A: God Reveals Himself to Mankind through His Spoken Word, recorded in writing as the "Holy Scriptures" often referred to as "the Bible" or the "Holy Bible".
2 TIMOTHY 3:15-17 (NKJV) "and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
God has chosen to make Himself known to us by His Holy Word, which today is a collection of 66 small books that we now call the "Bible" or the "Holy Bible". Incidentally the word "Bible" is not in the Bible. The term "bible" comes from the Greek word "biblia" which means "books". It is estimated that over 7 billion Bibles have been printed worldwide to date. By contrast the second most circulated book in the world, about Mao Tse-tung, has resulted in about 820 million copies. In case you're interested, third is Harry Potter at around 600 million copies. Combined the latter two are still outsold - by over 6 billion copies of the Word of God as of 2026.
Psalms 12:6 "And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times."
Psalm 18:30 "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him."
God's own personal divine words, along with His personal stamp of approval on His servants account of events, conversations, prophecies, and revelations alone form the Holy Scriptures. These Scriptures also contain our Lord's historical and chronological accounts of events that He states are important for us - not only to know as His creation, but also whereby we can learn to know Him, His character, His nature, His commandments and His expectations of us. For in His Word, He reveals to us our world and mankind's divine origin, our fallen state, our Lord's eternal power and Godhead, His plan for our salvation & eternal life, and for the restoration of all things through Jesus Christ. These Scriptures were penned by various faithful servants over thousands of years to record the exact words He gave to them by His Spirit. God not only exposes our arch enemy, Satan the devil, to us - but God also reveals the power and authority that He has given us through Jesus Christ over spiritual wickedness including how to defeat Satan & sin in our lives and in the lives of others.
The Holy Scriptures have been carefully passed down through successive generations by faithful scribes. These scribes have meticulously copied, transcribed original hand written and mainly Hebrew scrolls or Greek manuscripts under close supervision and scrutinization of their peers including the holy priests designated by God. Most of the new Testament scriptures were written in Greek and from there the entire Bible has been translated into various languages in the world.
The last chapter of John's gospel states "But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through His name." (John 20:31)
One example of the earliest set of scriptures are the ten commandments that were written by the finger of God Himself on the two tablets of stone, which He then gave to Moses. It was these commandments that were later placed inside the Ark of the Covenant which traveled with Israel as they journeyed towards Jerusalem which was the its last known earthly resting place.
Because the Spirit of God is Holy, invisible, and because God says that "You cannot see my face, for no man shall see me and live", (Exodus 33:20) there was and is no better way to communicate His will towards to the human race other than through His spoken Word. God spoke either directly to men such as Adam, Abraham, Moses, then sometimes by His angels as He did to Joshua, Daniel, etc and finally by His prophets and apostles including Jesus. This takes us right up to the final book of the bible, "Revelation", written almost 2000 years ago which was given to John the apostle by Jesus' angel - and is rightfully called the "Revelation of Jesus Christ". As Revelation 22:16 reads, "I Jesus have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning star."
God declares in John 1:1 that from before the beginning of time, that not only are God and His Word one and the same, but also at the appropriate time in mankind's history, the Word of God became flesh (human) and appeared in the world as JESUS, as the only begotten Son of God, full of grace and truth. Although Jesus' Father is God, the eternal and Holy Spirit, His earthly or human mother was Mary. By the man Jesus, who is also called the "Son of Man" over 80 times in the bible, God declared the gospel/good news to us of His plan of salvation and reconciliation. Further by Jesus, He became the Savior of the world (whosoever believes) by allowing Himself to be tortured and crucified by mankind that He had created. Indeed, Jesus created all things - the heavens and the earth, the spirit world, and all of mankind, for His scriptures declares that "He was in the world and the world was made by Him, but the world knew Him not." (John 1:10)
Colossians 1:16,17 states this about Jesus: "For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things are held together."
2Corinthians 5:18 states it like this, "And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 That is, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation." (eg: the gospel of Jesus Christ)
The Bible tells us that Jesus died for our sins, because in the Old Testament times according to God's Word, without the shedding of blood there was no covering or forgiveness for mankind's sin. This was frequently demonstrated by the repetitious animals sacrifices which served for the covering of sins prior to the perfect one-time sacrifice of God's only begotten Son, Jesus.
Because sin separates us from fellowship with God and more importantly results in death (which was not God's original purpose for mankind), God has chosen that by the "foolishness of preaching" His Word - specifically the "Gospel of Jesus Christ", to save us who were lost in sin.
It was because of not believing God's Word that He spoke to Adam, that the great fall occurred in the Garden of Eden. Mankind chose to believe the lies or word of Satan the devil, rather than God's Word and the penalty of spiritual death that God promised would follow if they disobeyed his Word.
Even when Jesus walked the earth 2000 years ago, unbelievers in those days did not believe the Word of God, the Scriptures, for if they had they would have known that Jesus was the Savior. Regarding the Scriptures that God gave Moses to write, Jesus asked this question in John 5:46 "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”. We know what Jesus words were because He taught His disciples about Himself and what to write/record about Him. He allowed Luke to record a whole "gospel" (good news) chapter and also the Book of Acts. These are the foundational words that preachers should preach.
God has chosen that by the preaching of His words, that people will be saved! But unbelievers think they are smarter and wiser than God.
1 Corinthians 1:21 "For since in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe."
By hearing preaching (truth), or by reading God's Word as presented in the Holy Scriptures (the bible), we begin to receive faith which comes from God Himself! Faith helps us believe and understand that indeed Jesus did die on the cross and shed His blood to save us from our sins. Faith helps us understand that God gives eternal life to whosoever believes the testimony that God has given us of His Son. When we believe God's word, in particular the gospel of Jesus Christ, we receive forgiveness for our sins and we begin to display faith which is immensely pleasing to God. Faith is the opposite of unbelief. When we have faith, we begin to walk in or live in faith starting by being baptised in water in obedience to Jesus command. We also seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit - which is also in obedience to His command.
This "born again" experience is the new covenant that God had promised by the word of His prophets that would someday come to mankind through His Son Jesus. Jesus, Himself, is the One who baptises us with the Holy Spirit (and fire). The bible teaches us that the new covenant is that God Himself would establish a personal relationship with us through His Holy Spirit and lead us and guide us into all truth, especially to help us understand his written Word. In Ezekiel chapter 36, God foretold this born again relationship:
25 "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. "
Having faith in the words which comprise the gospel of God, results in us receiving the "grace" or unmerited favor of God. Grace combined with faith, produces repentance by allowing Godly sorrow to work in us. Repentance then results in our desire to flee from sin, (which is the source of all our miseries) and enables us now pursue the righteousness of God. Our first pursuit is to be obedient to Jesus commandment to be water baptised (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38). When we obey God we receive forgiveness and remission of our sins and most importantly we receive the gift of eternal life - which is the first gift of the Holy Ghost. Sometimes people receive the Holy Ghost (Spirit) upon or just prior to water baptism like the Romans did in Acts 10:
The Holy Spirit provides us with "spiritual" power from God to protect us against future sin and guides us into all truth. Baptism or immersion into the Holy Ghost gives us power to witness plus can give us a variety of spiritual gifts according to God's will. Walking or living a Spirit filled life keeps us Holy and separated from living like the world lives as it walks in sin and darkness. Galatians chapter tells us that the evidence of being filled with the Holy spirit are the fruits of the Spirit being fully evident in our "new" lives.
The In these "last days" God has spoken to us through Jesus, and the disciples/apostles of the Lamb (Jesus) have recorded His words and teaching through their gospels & epistles to the church.
Chapter 1 of Hebrews records it in this way...
God's Final Revelation, His Son
Hebrews Chapter 1(KJV 2000) 1 "God, who at many times and in various manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,2 Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds; 3Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4Being made so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."

5For unto which of the angels said He at any time, "You are my Son, this day have I begotten you? "And again, "I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?" 6And again, when he brings the first begotten into the world, He says, "And let all the angels of God worship Him". 8But unto the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.
"10And, "You, Lord, in the beginning have laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of your hands:"
So even now, we have the word of the Lord recorded in the Bible by His prophets, and by His apostles for us to learn and form the basis of our faith/doctrine on. His doctrine should be our doctrine/teachings. There are far too many opinions out there when the Word has been clearly preserved for us until the end of this world. Three different scribes have recorded exactly the same Words of Jesus here:
Matthew 24:35 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away."
Mark 13:31 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away."
Luke 21:33 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away."
In the beginning was the Word, Who was with God and Who was God. God spoke the world into existence through that same Word. God will speak salvation into our lives which is eternal life if we receive His words (testimony).

"Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven."

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,

As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”
