Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (NKJV)
2Timothy 2:15
"Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word
of truth."
(KJER)
John 6:63
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit, and they are life."
(NKJV)
"For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and open unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do." Hebrews 4:12,13 (KJ21)
Jesus is the living "Word of God"
"And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." Rev.19:15,16
God's Word is "the Sword of the Spirit"
"And take the
helmet of
salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God"
Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)

The Word of God
Unfortunately, many people have never even read (never mind "studied") the entire bible for themselves, although they have considered themselves to be "practising" Christians for many years. Perhaps they think it is their Pastor's/Minister's job to hold their hand and read it to them? As a result, multitudes are sadly ignorant of many practical and spiritual teachings that God wants or wanted them to know. The Lord says in Hosea 4:6 that, "My people perish for a lack of knowledge..." . Therefore, many die, or will die, without ever attaining the abundant life that God had wanted them to attain, and sadly their children also will suffer from the fallout of their ignorance. Added to that is the Apostle's warning: " Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1Peter 5:8 (NLT)
Believers are to be vigilant, and are to seek the Lord while He may be found, even so, as He speaks in Jeremiah 33:2 “Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the Lord is His name): 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
That is why God has provided us with the bible, which contains the written record of man's creation, man's fall, the giving of the law & the prophesized and realized redemptive actions of God. God wants us to seek Him, through faith in living out the gospel, which is His plan of salvation conveyed to us in His words - the Word of God.
Seed To the Sower: The gospel news has also been given to us to be sowed like seed throughout the world - with God's intent and purpose to reconcile "whosoever believes" to Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. [ see "What Is The Bible?" article ]
So, even as Jesus recruited the 12 disciples to go out into all the world and preach the gospel, He is still calling us today to serve Him and do our part to proclaim the good news of salvation to the lost.
Isaiah 55:11 (KJER) “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
1 John 4:14 "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world." [So you see - the Father sent "the Word" to be the savior of the world]
John 1:14 " And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, [as] the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
2 Corinthians 5:19 "that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
In Johns gospel account, John states his purpose in recording some of the things that Jesus both said and did: "And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book. 31 But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you might have life through His name. John 20:30-31
THE BIBLE's SCRIPTURES CONTAIN amazing revelations concerning Jesus Christ. One of these revelations is that He Himself is the very Word of God. Often, we think that the bible [ a.k.a. the "Holy Scriptures" ] form(s) the entire word of God - when the truth is - that they simply contain some ( "many" to our simple minds ) of God words. Howbeit, these are the scriptures given to mankind - that God desired and desires (present tense) for us to know - to make us wise for salvation & to inherit eternal life (2Timothy 3:15).
The Word of God: So the scriptures declare, that from the very beginning, Jesus Christ Himself - is the Word of God, as revealed in many other scriptures in addition to the ones in this article.
The Spirit of God teaches and brings to our minds the LORD's spoken words as recorded in scripture - via the biblical scribe or prophet who recorded them - whether it was Moses, Jeremiah, John, Mark, or Paul, etc.) That is a distinct purpose of the Holy Spirit - to help teach us to understand the words of God. John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
Hebrews 4:12,13 (KJ21) "For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and open unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do." [ Notice the subject "the Word of God" is subsequently referred to as "His", and then "Him". ..in other words "as a living being/person!! ]
John 6:63 (NKJV) "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life."
We are commanded to receive and become born again by the living word of God: [ Note that the Word of God is Spirit and it is Life ] For He, Jesus - is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
1 Peter 1:23 (KJVER) "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever."
1Thessalonians 2:13 (NKJV) "For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe."
John 15:7 (NKJV) "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."
The Word shall judge us in righteousness at the last day:
Rev. 19:11-13 (KJER) "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He does judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called "The Word of God".
"In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God. 14 And the WORD became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:1,14 (NKJV)
